Highway 60 Bridges at Madawaska River and Opeongo River, Preliminary Design Study and Class Environmental Assessment

Class Environment Assessment Process

The study is following the Class Environmental Assessment (EA) for Provincial Transportation Facilities process for a Group ‘B’ project.

The assessment of bridge replacement alternatives and input from the engagement process will result in the identification of preferred plans for the replacement of both bridges.

Engagement with the external agencies, Indigenous communities, the public and interest groups will take place throughout the study, including a Public Information Centre (PIC). The PIC has been arranged to provide an opportunity to review the study process, the study need and justification, the analysis and evaluation, and the preferred plans for the replacement of the existing Highway 60 bridges at Madawaska River and Opeongo River.

Upon completion of the study, a Transportation Environmental Study Report (TESR) will be prepared and made available for public review. Notices will be published at that time to explain the review process and identify locations where the TESR is available for viewing. The TESR will also be available on this website. When the TESR is available for viewing, a Notice of TESR Filing will be posted on both this website ("Public Involvement”) and published in local newspapers.

A summary of the planned schedule for the Class EA process and consultation / engagement milestones is shown below. Note that this schedule is subject to change.
