Highway 60 Bridges at Madawaska River and Opeongo River
Preliminary Design Study and Class Environmental Assessment

Project Overview

Welcome to the project website for the Preliminary Design Study and Class Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Highway 60 Bridges at Madawaska River and Opeongo River, as shown in the key plan.

The Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) is undertaking a Preliminary Design Study to identify, analyze, and evaluate replacement alternatives for the Highway 60 bridges at Madawaska River and Opeongo River in the Township of South Algonquin.  The existing bridges are in need of replacement.

MTO has retained HDR to undertake the Preliminary Design and Class EA Study.

We will provide regular updates on this site with information, as it becomes available.

A Public Information Centre (PIC) was held on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at the Madawaska Complex in Madawaska, ON, which provided an opportunity to review the study process, the study need and justification, the analysis and evaluation, and the preferred plans for the replacement of the existing Highway 60 bridges at Madawaska River and Opeongo River. Please see Project Updates on this page and Public Involvement page to review the PIC presentation materials.
